The right to a trial by jury is the privilege of every person in the United States whether citizen or not. This cherished right is guaranteed by both the United States and California Constitutions.Jury trials cannot be held unless people like you are willing to perform their civic duty.

Jury trials cannot be held unless people like you are willing to perform their civic duty. Jurors are essential to the administration of justice. A jury is a selected group of citizens that hears the testimonies in a legal dispute and determines what they believe is the truth.
Jury Duty Status
Your appearance date and group number are printed on your Summons. To determine if you are required to appear, you must either check the table above or call the recorded message (530-740-1892) AFTER 5:00 P.M. THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR DATE OF SERVICE.
If you are required to appear for jury duty, whether you are selected to serve as a trial juror or not, you will be excused from service for 12 months. However, you will become eligible next calendar year to be summoned again.
If you are NOT required to come to the Courthouse on your appearance date, your name will remain in the pool of prospective jurors and you may receive another summons this calendar year.
You will be entering the courthouse through a security checkpoint. Do not bring weapons of any kind, including pocket knives, scissors, fingernail files, tweezers or any other sharp objects.
In addition, shorts, tank tops and hats are not allowed in the courtroom.
Jury Questionnaire- Now Online
If you receive a jury questionnaire, you can now fill it out online. To fill it out online, have your jury questionnaire handy (you will need your Jury ID from the questionnaire) and go to our Online Juror Response System. If you have a reason to be excused please email your six digit jury id number (found in the upper left, under our return address and bar code) and your reason to be excused with any attachments to jury@yuba.courts.ca.gov
All requests to change or dismiss a jury summons MUST be in writing. Email to Jury@yuba.courts.ca.gov or mail via USPS.

Your appearance date and group number are printed on your Summons. To determine if you are required to appear, you must call the recorded message (740-1892) or check the Jury Services webpage after 5:00 p.m. the night before your date of service.
All jurors who are required to appear must report to the Second Floor of the Yuba County Courthouse, 215 5th Street, Marysville, California.
The recorded message and the Jury Services webpage will both advise you what time you must report. Please note that the courthouse doors are not unlocked until 8:00 a.m.
California law says you are qualified to be a juror if you:
· Are a U.S. citizen
· Are at least 18 years old
· Can understand English enough to understand and discuss the case
· Are a resident of the county that sent you the jury summons
· Have not served on a jury in the last 12 months
· Are not currently on a grand jury or on another trial jury
· Are not under a conservatorship
· Are not currently being supervised by Parole, incarcerated, convicted of malfesence while in office or are a registered sex offiender.
Beginning January 1, 2020, individuals with criminal records that meet certain criteria are eligible to serve as a juror.
In accordance with Senate Bill 310, which changes the eligibility and disqualification criteria listed in Section 203 of the Code of Civil Procedure, having a felony conviction on your criminal record does not disqualify you from jury service. This change is effective January 1, 2020.
However, if you have been convicted of a felony and are currently on parole, postrelease community supervision, felony probation, or mandated supervision for the conviction of a felony, or are currently required to register as a sex offender pursuant to Section 290 of the Penal Code based on the felony conviction, you remain disqualified from jury service. Additionally, if any individual is incarcerated in any prison or jail, they are also disqualified from jury service.
We encourage individuals who have questions regarding these changes to contact your local jury office. For those individuals who will now be eligible for jury service and wish to serve, please remember that selection is random. The best way to ensure your name is added to the randomized selection process is to update your information with your county's local Registrar of Voters and with the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
No one is exempt
No one is exempt because of their job, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, or economic status.
If you are qualified, please follow the directions on your summons and call in or report as instructed. You will receive additional information when you report for service.
Even if you are qualified to be a juror, you might still have what is called an "undue hardship." An undue hardship is a difficult situation that prevents you from being able to serve.
If you face an undue hardship, you may be able to be excused from jury service or postpone service.

The recorded message and the Jury Services webpage will both advise you what time you must report. Please be prompt, as late arrivals are subject to rescheduling. However, please note that the courthouse doors are not unlocked until 8:00 a.m.
